Install Tabruns and pin it
Where to get it, and why pinning is the first thing to do.
Tabruns is a Chrome extension. It needs Chrome 116 or newer, because that is the version that introduced the side panel it lives in.
Get it
Tabruns is on the Chrome Web Store, which is where every "Add to Chrome" button on this site goes. Installing grants it nothing: the first screen the panel shows asks which sites it may read, and until you answer that it cannot see a page.
The Web Store page you just installed from is one of the few Tabruns cannot read — Chrome blocks every extension from its own pages and from the store, whatever you have granted. Open an ordinary site before trying the panel out.
Pin it
A freshly installed extension hides behind Chrome's puzzle-piece button, which means every use starts with two clicks and a hunt. Pinning costs one action and removes that forever.
- Click the puzzle piece in Chrome's toolbar, to the right of the address bar.
- Find Tabruns in the list.
- Click the pin beside it. The Tabruns mark now sits in the toolbar.
Opening the panel
Click the Tabruns mark, or press Alt+T from any page. The shortcut works whether or not the extension is pinned, and you can change it at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
